The MTB descent from the Nufenen Pass to Ulrichen is an impressive, demanding route with breathtaking high mountain scenery. It is part of the “St. Gotthard Bike Labyrinth.”

The Nufenen Trail is part of the master plan that Bikeplan developed for the municipalities of Goms and Obergoms. The route passes through alpine landscapes with high mountain meadows and scree fields before entering forested areas. The first sections are technically demanding, with flowing stretches farther down toward Ulrichen.
A particular challenge in planning and supporting the construction permitting process was protecting historic paths that needed to withstand mountain bike use. A new section was also planned through a scree slope at the edge of a rockslide area.
Thanks to intensive dialogue with the stakeholders involved and careful, professional implementation by Forst Goms, the historic paths were improved and the new trail created added value for hikers as well.
