For the development of the master plan, an initial step involved conducting an inventory of the existing offerings. Based on this assessment, the tourism development potential was identified, including possible services and target groups.
At the same time, the need for local recreation opportunities and potential locations were analyzed, highlighting the potential for site promotion and the interface with tourism offerings.
The master plan aimed to outline the development potential and a future strategy for bike-specific infrastructure. It defined possible measures for regional coordination and service development while illustrating how collaboration among various stakeholders in the region could be strengthened.
Additionally, the master plan serves to raise awareness about mountain biking and enhance knowledge and expertise among stakeholders.
The resulting “Master Plan Mountainbike Jungfrau Region and Interlaken” serves as an overarching planning framework for the implementation phase, which is set to take place over the next 5 to 10 years.
As a follow-up project, a Mountain Bike Coordination Office will be established in the region to take up and implement the recommendations outlined in the master plan.
